The Fourth Sunday of Easter

Old Testament – Psalm 23

This lovely song written by King David before he became king is loved by many

people. It is very comforting. Psalm 23 contains many of God’s promises. Make a

plan to memorize it.

New Testament – Acts 4:5-12

Today we learn all the events that led to Peter’s speech last week. We find out

that the Disciple John is of a high, priestly family. Still, John’s family members

put him and Peter on trial for healing a lame man. Peter says this healing is a

result of Jesus’ powerful name. Here is a lesson for us. Peter didn’t take credit

for healing this man. He gave Jesus all the credit and glory. We also must give

Jesus all the credit and glory when He answers our prayers.

New Testament – 1 John 3:16-24

Today continues a few sentences (verses) later in the same chapter of 1 John we

read last week. John tells us that we show that we love God when we love one

another and obey Him. We also learn that God is not happy when we see

someone in need who we can help and we do not help that person. Finally, we

learn that hate is the same as murder in God’s eyes.

New Testament – John 10:11-18

Jesus tells us He is our Good Shepherd. He has died for all of us. A good shepherd

takes care of his flock. Jesus is the Best Shepherd of all. He always cares for us.

Younger Childrens Lesson:

Today we learn that Jesus is our Good Shepherd. Shepherds take care of sheep

and goats. Jesus takes care of us. Think of all the ways Jesus cares for you.
