'I am the gate.' ~ Good Shepherd Sunday

The Gospel lesson today is John 10: 1-10

Jesus was using a figure of speech, but the people didn't fully understand him.

Jesus said that anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by gate and finds another way in is a thief and a bandit, but the one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.

Do you understand what Jesus is trying to say? Explain

Please discuss this question with your child.

Then Jesus says that HE is the gate for the sheep. The people that cheats their way into the gate are thieves and bandits, and their sheep will not listen to them

"Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture." -John 10:9

With knowing more information from Jesus' figure of speech, what lesson is Jesus trying to teach us?

Please discuss this question

Although today is short lesson, it is very meaningful. Jesus is the Good Shepherd and we are his sheep. The people that decide to cheat their way through life won't be saved. We must be patient and wait for the gatekeeper to open the gate for us, so we can live in eternal life with him.

Jesus my shepherd, search for me when I sin, and carry me home to your flock. Amen.
