"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die." - John 11:25-26
In todays Gospel we learn that Jesus' friend is really sick, and is close to death. Jesus reveals his power over death by raising Lazarus from the dead. The Prophet Ezekiel prophesies God breathing new life into dry bones. to those in exile or living in the shadows of death. God promises a resurrection. In baptism we die with Christ that we might also be raised with him to new life.
Mary and Martha rushed to tell Jesus that his dear friend Lazarus was dying. They were so worried that Jesus was going to come to late to save him. Jesus didn't rush to help....
Why do you think Jesus didn't rush to help Lazarus?

Jesus was late because he has a perfect schedule and purpose.
Jesus has said, " There are twelve hours of daylight everyday. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world. But at night there is danger of stumbling because they have no light." - John 11:9-10
The people that Jesus was speaking of, were the people that have no faith. They don't have guidance that Jesus gives us everyday. Jesus is our light of the world, no sun or moon can over shine his light. The people who have lost or have no faith are scared in the dark and are misguided.
Lazarus has faith in Jesus, Jesus was able to raise his friend Lazarus from the dead.
How can we over come our fears with Jesus?

Jesus is scheduled to die for the entire nation....
Jesus' purpose is to bring together and unite all the children of God around the world.
